This week’s #castified winner is Ryan Luansing! Following his appearance on Seal Team’s episode 2×17, he uploaded a picture of himself (on national TV!) to social media, earning her some Castifi Swag and a few other goodies!

Castifi found Ryan using a targeted ad campaign on Facebook. From browsing social media to getting your close up at the Director’s request, read Ryan’s story below!

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in the Inland Empire. I have lived in several different cities in the I.E. over the years and currently reside in the city of Corona. I come to Los Angeles for work and occasionally for concerts, restaurants and the tons of awesome things that the city has to offer. I really like Los Angeles, but the Inland Empire is my home.

What made you sign up for Castifi?

I happened to come across an advertisement for Castifi on Facebook. It was a casting call for Filipino people between the ages of 18–60 for a major network television program. I easily fall into that category and it was something that I had never tried before, so I decided to sign up and see where it took me.

Can you tell me about your experience with Castifi?

I was surprised to receive a message that I was booked to work on Seal Team shortly after signing up. I had thought that there would probably have been a lot of people that signed up around the same time as well from the same posting that I saw, so I figured my chances of being picked were slim. I was happy when I found out that I was picked.

How was working on Seal Team?

I had an amazing experience working on 2 episodes of Seal Team. I have never had work be so much fun before. Episode 16 was my first time working on a television drama. I played a taxi cab driver and a bar patron in this episode. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the production staff and crew. They made it a lot easier than I was expecting it to be. Everyone was so organized and efficient and all of the background actors were treated so well.

In episode 17, I played a street vendor. I sold various things in the scenes that I was in. In that episode, the director Allison Liddi-Brown gave me one of the nicest compliments I ever received and told me that she needed to put me in a closer shot in a scene. In that scene, I played a barbecue vendor selling food to the characters Clay and Sonny. The most fun part of working on that episode was the scene where we were running up and down the street while looking scared. I definitely got a good workout that night.

What makes you most excited about the series?

The thing that I am most excited about for this series is seeing how the characters learn and grow from their hardships and setbacks. I am excited about seeing where else in the world their missions take them and I hope that I can be part of it again soon.

What advice would you give aspiring actors?

The advice that I would give to aspiring actors is to be patient. I didn’t know what to expect coming into this and I have learned that it is not an easy industry to be in. It can get very frustrating, so be patient and don’t stop fighting.
